Glass Coffin

This is how it happened. A queen wished for a daughter with skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and hair as black as ebony—then died giving birth to just such a girl. Her dying words: Snow White. The girl’s father married again, but the new queen was a witch who could not stand to be surpassed in beauty. She laid a curse of exacting cruelty on her stepdaughter—a sleep like death that could only be reversed by true love’s kiss. Many years later, a prince found the girl and, loving her at the very first glimpse, kissed her, breaking her curse. The girl returned to her kingdom and her throne, and the jaded queen was sentenced to dance in hot iron shoes until she died.

This is how it happened. A queen wished for nothing more than her daughter, torn cruelly from her arms by disease. But the queen was a witch and clever in the ways of the Fog. She wove a dread conjuring under the dark winter solstice and bargained with Death, trading her very life for that of her daughter. Her dying words: Snow White. The girl awoke with skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and hair as black as ebony. Her heart frozen solid by the loss of her beloved mother, the girl returned to her kingdom and her throne, ruling the Fog-swaddled lands with an exacting cruelty. Wherever her reign extended, the winter within her close followed, plunging the wilderness into a sleep like death. And when all was still and silent, Snow White and her castle vanished—spirited away in search of warmth to snuff out.

Glass Coffin is a module for Fatherfog 0E. The characters are resting at a Foghouse, the Huntsman’s Lodge, when a strange castle emerges from the Fog, bringing with it a sudden and dreadful winter. With every passing day, the winter grows more vicious, threatening an icy doom for every warm body for miles—unless the characters can find a way to repel the castle or slay its undying mistress, the vampire Snow White.
